Winery investment project launched in Crimea

Investment project on establishment of new viticulture and wine production is launched in Saki region of Crimea. The new agro-industrial complex is created in the framework of Presidential instruction to attract investment, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

According to Mykola Polyushkin, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Crimea, a project to establish a plant for processing of grapes and production of sparkling wine is being launched by Russian investors. According to the Ministry, the future production is creating its own raw material base. In previous two years, 200 hectares of new elite vineyards were planted. This year, they are planning to plant additional 120 hectares of vineyards, and by 2020, the area will be increased nearly to 1,000 hectares.

The complex shall be commissioned in the end of 2015.
To date, over 100 jobs for the Crimean residents (with wages exceeding the average industrial level) were created at the plant. And after launch of the main facilities, the plan is to create up to 300 new jobs.

Experts note that the  total scope of investment will amount to 39 million EUR in 2011-2021. Of those, 15 million EUR will be invested in vineyards, and 24 million EUR – in construction of a plant for processing of grapes and production of still and sparkling wine.
