Ukraine increases salaries and employment

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine published data on the number, working hours and salaries of employees in December 2013, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

The statistics indicate contradictory trends in the economy. In December  2013 the number of full-time employees totaled 9,958 million persons and fell by 1% compared to November. The average number of employees in the full-time equivalent totaled 9,745 million persons in December.

Experts point out that the largest number of full time staff was recorded in Kyiv – 1,244 million, in Donetsk region – 1,074 million, in Dnipropetrovsk region – 888,900. In particular, in December 2013 industrial production employed 2,603 million persons, including manufacturing – 1,645 million. Mining industry employed 415,600 persons, including coal industry – 256,700 persons.

Experts say an increase in the workload of employed persons. So, in December, one full-time employee in average worked 150 hours. This is 102.7% from November 2013, and 104.2% from December 2012. Workload was the highest in "Finance and insurance." One full-time employee there in average billed 160 hours. In the areas of "Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles" and "public administration and defense; compulsory social insurance" - 158 hours. The least number of hours was billed in the area "mail and courier services" - 132 hours, in "water transport" - 133 hours.

At the same time, with the growing workload, the salary increases, note analysts. The payroll payments from January to December 2013 amounted to 408.9 billion UAH, or 103.7% from 2012. In December 2013, the salaries  were paid at 110.7% from November, and 107.2% from December 2012.
