Kyiv Prosecutor's Office closes 35 criminal proceedings against protesters

Kyiv Prosecutor's Office closed 35 criminal proceedings over the events related to mass protests in November and December 2013, spokeswoman Yana Sobolevska said.

According to her, Kyiv Prosecutor's Office continues practical implementation of provisions of the law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Eliminating Negative Consequences and Preventing Prosecution and Punishment of People in Connection with Events that Took Place During Peaceful Rallies”.

"Currently, the procedural leaders decided to close 35 criminal proceedings initiated during the period from 21 November 2013 to 26 December 2013. In addition, prosecutors enforced implementation of the norms of this law in the courts by placing appropriate motions in other 12 criminal proceedings," Yana Sobolevska said.

She also noted that another provision of law provides for the exemption from criminal liability of persons suspected or already convicted of crimes related to the protests in the period specified by law.
