Expert: Agreements with Russia is step forward in economic policy

Cooperation with Russia is a reasonable choice, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, member of the supervisory board of the Institute for Energy Strategies Yuri Korolchuk told a roundtable, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to expert, this cooperation will go on in different economy sectors, including the energy sector. "Moscow agreements can be regarded as Ukraine’s attempt to make a decisive step forward in the external economic policy, especially if bear in mind that the European Union is supposed to be involved in further dialogue with Russia. The success of this dialogue will depend on the political will of Kyiv," the analyst said.

He stressed that soon negotiations will continue on establishment of a consortium to manage the national gas transmission system, as well as on other several joint projects in the energy sector. "I think the Russians will get expanded access to Ukrainian pipelines already in 2014, when the consortium will be created. But, probably, Ukraine and Russia will take European party in partners too," he said.
