Stavytsky: New gas price allow saving $ 7 billion a year

Stavytsky: New gas price allow saving $ 7 billion a year

Ukraine will annually save $ 7 billion due to lowering Russian gas price, energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Next year, Ukraine's economy will need import gas purchases of 30-33 billion cubic meters. If we multiply by the saved $240, we can see that the state budget will save at least $ 7 billion. These 7 billion we will invest in our economy. This fact should be paid attention to," minister said, adding that Ukraine had reserved the right to renegotiate on gas contract terms for further reducing the price.
The minister also recalled that since 1 January 2014, the gas price will make up 268.5 dollars per thousand cubic meters. "This is a significant impact on the economic performance of enterprises and the economy as a whole. We worked for 3.5 years to achieve this result," he said.

Stavytsky also added that the issue of changes in tariffs for gas transit was not discussed, and the current rates continue to be effective.
