President suspends Popov, Sivkovych from offices

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has suspended Volodymyr Sivkovych from office of the deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and Oleksandr Popov from office of the head of the Kyiv City State Administration on motions of the Prosecutor General's Office on suspicion of involvement of these officials in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens on November 30, 2013 in Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square in Kyiv, ForUm learned from the President’s press office.

"President hopes that the Prosecutor General's Office will conduct objective and comprehensive investigation into those events and offer specific legal response to committed unlawful acts," the statement says.

The Head of State also offers the law enforcement agencies to investigate openly and transparently and to put an end to this issue.

President notes that there should be no exceptions for any state officials in matters of responsibility for illegal actions.
