Authorities interested in investigation into conflict in Maidan, Azarov says

Ukrainian authorities are interested in the investigation into the conflict among protesters and security forces in Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"One of the demands of protesters is investigation into the events in Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square in the night of November 30. It is our common goal. After all, it is absolutely clear that the power conflict that night was not good for the government. It worked against it, gave rise to escalation of the conflict," Azarov said.

According to PM, the authorities are interested in the investigation in those events.

"We offered a trilateral format of control over the investigation, with the participation of representatives of the government, the opposition, the international community. Therefore, there is a basis for mutual understanding. The answer should be given by professionals. It is the only way for society to get an honest answer and justice," he said.
