Ukraine, Brazil to cooperate on nuclear energy


The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft agreement with Brazil on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Earlier, both parties have reiterated their mutual interest in strengthening cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

As reported, in January 2012, foreign minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko said that he considered promising to attract Brazilian technology to enhance energy security of Ukraine.

In October 2011, President Viktor Yanukovych said that Ukraine is interested in the participation of Brazilian companies in the implementation of the New Energy national project (providing for the use of alternative energy sources and diversification of energy carriers in the country) and the LNG terminal national project.
