Monument to Shukhevych to be erected in Ternopil

Ternopil city mayor Serhiy Nadal informed that a monument to Roman Shukhevych, head of the Ukrainian rebellion army, will be erected in the city, hence meeting the request of representatives of the Ukrainian Nationalists Congress.

"We stand for erection of such monument. We have formed a steering committee, which will determine a place for the monument. It must be a public and crowded place, worthy of such prominent historical figure as Hero of Ukraine Roman Shukhevych. Then the place must be approved by the city architecture board," Nadal said.

The mayor also informed that the city budget will not allocate money for the monument. "I believe that this year we should not spend our budget means on monuments. Monuments should be erected at the expenses of donors and members of public organizations," he said.
