Tymoshenko to present a picture of Ukrainian events in Brussels

Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has been given permission by investigators from the Prosecutor General’s Office to travel to Brussels later this month to attend the European People’s Party (EPP) Summit where she will present an assessment of the situation in Ukraine, Tymoshenko's official website reported.

The Prosecutor General’s Office also informed Yulia Tymoshenko that a decision to allow her to travel to Lithuania for the international forum "Women Enhancing Democracy: Best Practices" will be made closer to the date of the conference – June 30.

As reported, on March 14 Yulia Tymoshenko submitted a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office for permission to travel to Brussels on March 23-25 to attend the EPP Summit and to Lithuania for the international forum "Women Enhancing Democracy: Best Practices".

Yulia Tymoshenko was officially invited by U.S. Senator John McCain and European People’s Party President Wilfried Martens to attend the European People’s Party Summit. "We jointly call on the Ukrainian authorities to allow Yulia Tymoshenko to attend the EPP Summit in Brussels on March 24, 2011. Mrs. Tymoshenko’s party, Batkivshchyna, is an observer member of the EPP and she is, therefore, invited to participate in the Summit," says the joint statement issued in early March.

"Dear Wilfried and John, many thanks for your support. Solidarity works. I’m glad I have such great friends throughout the world," Yulia Tymoshenko wrote on Twitter.

Finnish President Tarja Halonen and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite have also invited Yulia Tymoshenko to participate in the international forum "Women Enhancing Democracy: Best Practices" to be held on June 30 in Lithuania.
