Oppositional faction BYuT officially changes name

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn announced about renaming of the BYuT faction into the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc - Batkivshchyna (Motherland), the Speaker told the Parliament's morning session, UKRINFORM reports.

This decision was taken at the faction's meeting on September 6.

The oppositional faction BYuT is the second large faction following the pro-power Party of Regions.

In compliance with the new law, only parties can participate in the local election. It means that the political force of ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko will go to the election not as the bloc, but as the Batkivshchyna Party, the brand of which was rarely used over recent years.
