The Central Election Commission has
made public the official results of the first-round voting in the
Ukrainian presidential elections of January 17.
CEC Chair Volodymyr Shapoval
says, after processing 225 protocols of district electoral commissions,
candidate Viktor Yanukovych, who is the leader of the oppositional
Party of Regions, won 35.32% of the votes, and Prime Minister Yulia
Tymoshenko 25.05%.
Other presidential candidates
made the following showing: Serhiy Tihipko - 13.05%, Arseniy Yatseniuk
- 6.96%, Viktor Yushchenko - 5.45%, Petro Symonenko - 3.54%, Volodymyr
Lytvyn - 2.35%, Oleh Tiahnybok - 1.43%, Anatoliy Hrytsenko - 1.2%, Inna
Bohoslovska - 0.41%, Oleksandr Moroz - 0.38%, Yuriy Kostenko - 0.22%,
Liudmyla Suprun - 0.19%, Vasyl Protyvsikh - 0.16%, Oleksandr Pabat -
0.14%, Serhiy Ratushniak - 0.12%, Mykhailo Brodskyi - 0.06%, and Oleh
Riabokon - 0.03%.
2.2% of the voters did not support any of the candidates.
The Central Election Commission
also passed at its meeting on Monday a unanimous decision on holding
the run-off election on February 7, 2010 between Viktor Yanukovych and
Yulia Tymoshenko.
