Ukraine, EU to sign agreement on gas crisis prevention

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko, being on a working visit to Brussels, said Tuesday that Kyiv and Brussels would work out a document to prevent crisis in energy sector, UKRINFORM reported.

“We'll see whether this will be a trilateral document or a document between Ukraine and the European Union related to early prevention of crisis situations in energy sector. For today, we've obtained consent for elaboration of this instrument, and we'll start working out it soon at the expert level,” he underlined.

Poroshenko also noted that Ukraine has addressed a request to the EU to make serious steps on Ukraine's joining the Energy Community. “There are today serious prerequisites for that,” the minister added.

Earlier, European officials signed the same document on prevention of a possible break in gas supplies with Russia.
