Ukraine cuts down oil, gas transit

According to the Fuel and Energy Ministry, in January-October transit of oil and gas via Ukraine's territory reduced by 9.9% and 23.5% respectively against the same period of the previous year, NRCU reported.

In particular, oil transit over 10 months of 2009 made up 24.799 million tons, gas - 75.6 billion cu m. A considerable drop of Russian gas volumes is explained by reduction of its consumption in the European countries due to the economic crisis. In 2008, oil transit via Ukraine made up 32.842 million tons, gas - 119.6 billion cu m.
