Tymoshenko accuses Firtash-controlled group of companies of damaging financial condition of Rodovid Bank

Tymoshenko accuses Firtash-controlled group of companies of damaging financial condition of Rodovid Bank

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has accused a group of companies controlled by business tycoon Dmytro Firtash of worsening the financial condition of Kyiv-based Rodovid Bank, ForUm informs referring to Interfax-Ukraine.

"The crisis has triggered mass violations at the these banks (troubled banks). For example, UAH 2.5 billion were taken as an unsecured borrowing from the [Rodovid] bank by a group of companies - 21 companies involved in criminal structures and led by Mr. Firtash," Tymoshenko said at a meeting with the depositors of Rodovid Bank in Kyiv on Friday.

According to the premier, this money hasn't been returned, it is not being serviced and the debts on its servicing have amount to over UAH 300 million.

At the same time, the bank's debt to depositors has reached UAH 2.2 billion.

Tymoshenko also said that out of UAH 3.2 billion, the bank has received from the state to support its liquidity, UAH 1.283 billion has been given to "the bank's own people."

The conditions of this deal are being clarified, the premier said. In addition, the Interior Ministry has already opened several criminal cases into the improper use of credit resources after the recapitalization of the bank was performed and its financial documents analyzed.
