Yanukovych: Ukraine will ensure smooth supplies of energy carriers to Europe

The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych met with Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Germany and Poland Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Radoslaw Sikorski.

During the meeting Viktor Yanukovych pointed out that Ukraine is able to ensure smooth supplies of energy carriers to Europe.
“As a future presidential contender, I am convinced that Ukraine will ensure smooth supplies of energy carries, namely gas and oil, to Europe, - the Party of Regions Leader noted. - When I headed the government in 2007, we did everything for Europe to have no worry and no problems”.

Viktor Yanukovych reiterated that the Party of Regions told about the inadmissibility of the situation when Europe became a hostage to the misunderstanding in gas relations between Ukraine and Russia in 2006 and 2008.
“The creation of a gas-transport consortium by its third party, except for Ukraine and the EU, requires Russia to be engaged. Then we will be able to achieve the goal we set”, Viktor Yanukovych said. He pointed out the necessity of recurring to the issue concerning the origination of gas transport consortium with the participation of Germany and other EU member states.

The Party of Regions Leader underlined that diversification of energy resources is among Ukraine’s and the EU’s shared tasks.
