Ukrainian labor migrants to pay single tax

The Cabinet intends to make Ukrainian labor migrants to effect payments to the Pension Fund. They will pay a single tax of UAH 200 (1 USD - 7.7 UAH), and UAH 300 to the Pension Fund at the minimum each month, National radio (NRCU) reported.

At a recent meeting of the government a resolution was adopted by which norms of the President's decree of July 3, 1998, “On Simplified System of Taxation and Registration of Small Business Entities” will be extended to labor migrants.

The document allows natural persons carrying out business activities abroad legalizing their income by way of transfer to a single tax system and claiming to an enlarged pension in Ukraine.

According to experts, the document is designated for illegal migrants who have to interrupt their work record on which the pension amount depends in case of leaving the country. Now the work record will not be interrupted, that will allow migrants to count on the pension that is higher than the minimum pension. In addition, even the Ukrainians looking after children and pensioners, as well as builders, could become entrepreneurs.

According to unofficial estimates, there are about three million of Ukrainian gastarbeiters. If at least one million of them registers, receipts from a single tax to local budgets will make up UAH 2.4 billion.
