Tymoshenko: Ukraine will always remain a reliable partner of transit of gas to Europe


The PM of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko states Ukraine will always fulfill all commitments concerning shipment of Russian natural gas to the states of Europe. The Head of Ukrainian Government informed journalists on the results of her meeting with the President of France Nikolas Sarkozy.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted in the course of the meeting an issue of gas row between Ukraine and Russia has been raised, which occurred at the beginning of the year: “I assured Mister President that all the signed agreements that transfer prices for gas and its transit on a formula principle exclude possibility of conflicts in the future.”

Ukraine has always been and will always remain a reliable partner in the issues of transit of Russian gas to Europe,” she added, the Cabinet's press office informed.

The Premier aired, on March 23 Brussels will host an international investment conference dedicated to modernization of Ukrainian gas transportation system and it will be the place to determine the amounts of funds the Naftogaz of Ukraine necessitates to conduct respective modernization and reconstruction activities. Yulia Tymoshenko hopes this conference will be successful and Ukraine will obtain long-term credit resources for modernization and reconstruction of the GTS which, in its turn, will strengthen reliability of Ukraine as a gas transiter.
