Tymoshenko: State Budget of Ukraine may be reconsidered in May

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko accepts amending the State Budget for 2009 in May. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko told during the general portback election meeting of the Association of Ukrainian Cities and Communities.

The Head of Government proposes to amend the Budget Code concerning the extension of financing of the regions already next week. According to her, this will allow to amend the State Budget-2009 already in May, Government portal reported.

At the same time the Prime Minister urged the mayors to revise all inefficient budget outlays of their cities. “You have to revise all inefficient outlays, because we should count every copeck while reconsidering the state budget in May,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted.

The Head of Government stressed that the State Budget-2009 situation is challenging because of the crisis, so it is impossible to plan the large increase in outlays for local budgets at the moment. She informed that because of the decrease in import and the hryvnia devaluation, the Budget receipts from customs duties had decreased. At the same time, according to her, the receipts from the State Tax Administration in January this year totaling 106%, and the February forecast – 102%. According to her, further development of the situation will depend on the banking system and trends of the world economy.

Yulia Tymoshenko also said that Government would work through mechanisms for solving the issues on local budgets’ unbalance within the nearest two weeks. The Head of Government emphasized that local budgets had been approved earlier than the contracts of gas supply. That’s why, according to her, we face the problem of local budgets’ unbalance. “521 million hryvnias in tote for the country, we will succeed in balancing this position,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.
