Ukraine and EU sign Declaration on support and development of small and average business


Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko and Vice President of Eurocommission Günter Verheugen have signed the Declaration on cooperation in the area of support and development of the small and average business, Government portal informed.

On commenting signing the document the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko declared “it gives hope that cooperation in the system of support of small and average business will acquire new quantity and will be coordinated with the European Union”. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, after the Declaration is inked Ukraine will be able to use experience of the European states and to act more deliberately in this direction. Yulia Tymoshenko also informed, signing of the Declaration will trigger maintenance of practical cooperation between the State Committee of Ukraine for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship and respective structures of the EU: “We will spare no effort to ensure that signed today document acquired practical realization”.

The Premier reminded that on July 2, 2008 Ukraine joined the European Charter for Small Enterprises and introduced the principles, contained in this instrument. “All the provisions contained in the European Charter for Small Enterprises is of extreme significance for Ukraine as small and average entrepreneurship appears our hope, a cutting edge for the country in such hard times,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined.

In his turn, Vice President of the European Commission Günter Verheugen announced signing of the Declaration was significant not only for Ukraine, but for the European Commission either. Günter Verheugen stressed he views Ukraine’s future with the EU, as it is the part of European history and culture. “In order to realize this vision small steps must be taken. Today we are doing such step. It will not change the history, but it is of great significance on the way of approaching our parties in the process of mitigating fallouts of the world financial crisis,” the Vice President of Eurocommission stressed.
