Tymoshenko: Japanese investment in Ukrainian economy may amount to USD 16 billion


Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko states that Ukraine is interested in attracting investments of the powerful Japanese corporations. She declared during a meeting with the heads of Japanese corporations Sumitomo, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Itochu, Sojitz, Mitsui.

“In these hard times, under support of the Government of Ukraine, we can develop high-quality cooperation with the Japanese corporations,” Yulia Tymoshenko stated. She assured that Government of Ukraine would encourage maximum transparency and simplification of the bureaucratic procedures at attracting investments: “democracy, though hardly, is successfully developing in Ukraine, and as against other countries of our region, transparent relations in the investment system are established”. The Head of Government stressed, therefore Ukraine may become a basic country for Japan to implement big investment projects.    

The Prime Minister proposed the representatives of powerful Japanese corporations to organize one team to introduce already elaborated and new investment projects. According to her, in particular, 29 big projects to the sum of USD 6 billion, as well as 358 projects on green investments to the sum of USD 10 billion. Yulia Tymoshenko is confident that stirring up such cooperation, Ukraine can overcome the crisis and become stronger, more confident and more reformed. The Head of Ukrainian Government thanked the representatives of Japanese corporations which are working in the Ukrainian market for many years and expressed hope for further cooperation, “All ways are open to you”.
