Tymoshenko: Ukraine should not pay any compensations for delayed gas supplies

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko considers claims on Ukraine’s obligation to pay compensation to the European Union countries for the delayed supplies of Russian natural gas groundless.

“I've heard the claims that Ukraine has to pay somebody compensations for not supplied Russian gas to the European Union. I believe, the guilty one must pay,” Tymoshenko told a briefing.

She reminded about the EU Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs’s statement that Ukraine did not impede the Russian gas transit, did not halt the transit and took not a gram of gas unauthorized. “So, Ukraine adheres to the fair position on transit and will always do it,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine added, Cabinet's press office reported.
