Tymoshenko: Gas negotiations between Ukraine and Russia had been deranged on its final stage

Negotiations into making for Ukraine natural gas at 235 USD per cu meter (starting from October 2, 2008 when the Memorandum was signed between Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Russia) were successful, but hampered by tries of Ukrainian politicians to preserve Rosukrenergo as a shadow and corruptive mediator between the two states. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko declared at a press conference.

“I can admit all the negotiations between the two prime ministers and afterwards between Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC and Gazprom had been ruined by those political forces in Ukraine that obtained and plan to continue receiving corruptive profits from Rosukrenergo activity,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined.

The Premier reminded that the Rosukrenergo is represented in Ukraine by the following persons – Dmytro Firtash and two people’s deputies from the Regions Party – Yurii Boyko and Serhii Liovochkin. “They are the figures who contributed into collapse of the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia,” the Head of Government said.

Besides, Yulia Tymoshenko continued that the negotiation process on its final stage had been ruined also by some power institutions. “Until corruption interests influence relations of the two states, including from the Ukrainian side, it will be hard to conclude normal contracts and reach strategic agreements without criminal, corruptive mediators,” Prime Minister explained.
