Germany is against Ukraine's and Georgia's accedence to NATO


Germany does not support plans of the USA concerning rapid accedence of Ukraien and Gergia to NAYO.

The German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Wednesday that there is no reason to push ahead with putting Ukraine and Georgia on the path to NATO membership. His statement indicates that Germany is preparing to oppose the US at next week's NATO summit.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has indicated his opposition to a push by the United States to speed up Ukraine and Georgia's membership of NATO.

Speaking in the German parliament, or Bundestag, on Wednesday, Steinmeier said that there was "no reason now, seven months after the NATO summit, to go beyond the decisions made in Bucharest."
