MP Shufrych punched ex-Minister Rudkovskiy

On Wednesday ex-Minister of Transport and Communication Mykola Rudkovskiy submitted an application to the Pecherskiy district police department, accusing MP Nestor Shufrych (the Party of Regions) of an attack. Kommersant-Ukrayina daily reports about it referring to its sources in law-enforcement bodies.

The daily got to know that Mr.Rudkovskiy arrived to the police station with his lip broken, and submitted an application, accusing Nestor Shufrych, MP and ex-Minister for Emergencies, of inflicting bodily injures upon him.

According to the text of the application, Mr.Shufrych, together with an unknown man, probably being his bodyguard, arrived to the office of M.Rudkovskiy at around 15.00 on November 19. He entered the cabinet where Rudkovskiy was working and punched him in the face several times, after which he left the premise.

M.Rudkovskiy has already undergone a forensic expertise in the Kyiv Forensic Expertise Center. Police has interrogated employees of Rudkovskiy’s office, in particular, his spokes person Victoria Butenko. According to her, after N.Shufrych entered Rudkovskiy’s cabinet, she heard as if Shufrych asked him something several times, and got a negative answer from Rudkovskiy. She also heard Shufrych saying “Kolya, why?”, and “Kolya, when you were in jail, I helped you!”.

M.Rudkovskiy refused to comment on the case. The daily also failed to hear the stance of N.Shufrych – his spokesman did not give any comments.
