Yushchenko promised to assist NATO with helicopters


Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko meets in London Great Britain's Premier Gordon Brown.

The parties discussed the state of trade-economic and investment cooperation, energy cooperation and practical steps to liberalize a visa regime with Great Britain.

A special attention was devoted to Ukraine's relations with the European Union. Viktor Yushchenko and Gordon Brown dwelt on regional security with the latest developments in Georgia taken into account.

Yushchenko thanked Great Britain for the manifested solidarity with Ukrainian people and assistance in recognizing Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine internationally and commemorating the tragedy victims.

Yushchenko and Brown also discussed question of regional security taking into account the recent events in Georgia.

The Ukrainian party confirmed the readiness to take part in the British-French initiative on strengthening of helicopter power of the EU and NATO.
