Russia won’t encroach upon the Big Treaty

Russia won't initiate determination of the Big Treaty on cooperation and friendship with Ukraine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov told journalists. "I see no reason for initiation by Russia the determination of the Treaty," S.Lavrov told. according to him, the Big Treaty on cooperation and friendship with Ukraine meets interests of both countries. The Minister drew attention to the fact that Russia expects that all other agreements between the two countries will be vigorous.

The Minister noted that rental price rise, proposed by the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko for the bases of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia in Sevastopol, contradicts the base agreement where the rental price was fixed. "We know that such international agreement as the Agreement on the Black Sea Fleet of Russia have an absolute priority over the domestic legislative acts," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia stressed.
