Demand for work force exceeds supply in Ukraine

If five years ago work force supply in Ukraine exceeded demand, now the situation is quite the opposite - demand exceeds supply, Minister of Education and Science Ivan Vakarchuk told a press-conference.

The Minister said that according to expert estimates, personnel deficit in Ukraine in 2008 reaches over 190 thousand people including 70% workers. Only in the Kyiv employment center the employers offered 35 thousand vacancies including 60% blue-collar professions.

Ivan Vakarchuk noted that labor market defines demand for qualified workers. At present demand for workers grows in industry and transport; in construction and agroindustrial complex it remains stable. This demand reduces in light industry. Such dynamics reflects infrastructure development of country's economics. So, establishment of the optimal network of technical schools is of great importance, the Minister underscored.
