WTO membership meets national interests of Ukraine

Accession to the World Trade Organization meets the national interests of Ukraine, the Economy Ministry press service quoted Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn as saying.

In his words, the most important change determining both the improvement of wellbeing and the real gross domestic product rise, will be easier access to markets, particularly, for metallurgy, chemical industry and agriculture of Ukraine. This change alone will bring up to 6.4% of cumulative wellbeing rise, and 2.7-percent increase in the real GDP.

The Minister noted that a free trade zone would be created with the European Union, providing for annual increase in the volume of Ukrainian exports to the EU by minimum 10%. A serious legalization of import will also take place through its further liberalization, accompanied with increasing receipts of the national budget from foreign trade by 5% - 10% a year. Production will be bucked up in the basic export-oriented branches (metallurgical, chemical, agriculture) as a result of liberalization of rules for access to external markets and additional annual increase in production export by at least 7% - 10% (from USD 1.5 billion - USD 2 billion to USD 4 billion). Cabinet's press service reports.

Ukraine has become a World Trade Organization member on Friday.
