President visited WWII memorial in Kharkiv


Within the framework of his working visit to Kharkiv region President Viktor Yushchenko visited Memorial complex “Hill of Marshal Konev”, located in Solonycivka village. President’s press office reports.

There Viktor Yushchenko put wreaths near the monument honoring those who died. He took part in a memorial liturgy in a Chapel of St. John the Warrior.

Viktor Yushchenko also visited the Museum of Kharkiv liberation from fascist invaders where he presented war veterans with state awards.

“When we are speaking today about your heroism during the Second World War, in gaining victory on our land, the subject for us is sacred. Those people, who went through the ways of the Great Patriotic war and live among us today deserve our outmost sincere gratitude and honor,” Viktor Yushchenko said, addressing those present. He congratulated the veterans on Victory Day and wished them sound health and longevity.
