President discussed candidacy for Kyiv mayor with Prime Minister

President Viktor Yushchenko stated that he had already discussed the question of a common candidate to the post of Kyiv mayor with Prime Minister. He did not however named the person to be the candidate, saying that the subject has not yet been solved. President's press office reports.

Expressing his opinion on the situation in general, Viktor Yushchenko stressed that he considers the decision of parliamentarians on holding pre-term elections unjustifiably hasty. “It would be worth to wait for the reports of two [inquiry] commissions, for these commissions to hold at least one meeting, form their position and present it to the parliament,” he said. President Yushchenko also emphasized that it would be unacceptable to be guided by political factors in calling pre-term elections of Kyiv Mayor rather than by legal ones.
