Russia is ready to think about compensation for catastrophe in Kerch channel


The Russian natural inspectorate is ready to study claims of Ukraine on compensation of losses, caused by the accident in the Kerch channel. Deputy Head of the Russian natural inspectorate Oleg Mitvol said.

He notes that Russian has not yet received the statement of claim from Ukraine.

“We are not acquainted with the statement of claim. When we will see particular materials, we will study demands of the Ukrainian side,” Mitvol said.

On the eve the State commission for anthropogenic-ecological safety and extraordinary situations of Ukraine decided to demand from the Russian ship owners the compensation of USD 1,5 milliard for the damages, caused by oil spill in the Kerch Channel in November 2007.
