Scheffer hopes that Ukraine’s destiny will be known before NATO summit

NATO General Secretary Jaap de Hoop Scheffer hopes that before the NATO summit in Bucharest the clear position concerning Ukraine’s and Georgia’s joining NATO Membership Action Plan will be chosen. Scheffer stated at Brussels forum on Saturday.

“13 or 14 working days - this is a big period of time in the policy,” Scheffer emphasized.
”I hope that remained working days will help to give more clear answer,” the NATO General Secretary said.

He has also stated that these two States “will consider results of the summit in Bucharest as the stimulus for continuation of their Euro Atlantic way”. “As to the form, it is too early to speak in which form this continuation will be carried out,” he stated.
