President pays visit to Cherkasy region

Within the framework of his visit to Cherkasy region President Viktor Yushchenko paid a visit to Voznesenske village "Zolotonoshskiy" Branch of one of the largest national producers and exporters of agricultural products Nibulon Ltd., president's press office reported.

President took a tour of the grain storage facilities including the grain quality analysis laboratory and grain drying machinery, etc.

During a conversation with branch’s staff Victor Yushchenko noted high export potential and competitiveness of Ukrainian agriculture sector. He also stressed that for both Ukraine and Cherkassy region realization of agricultural potential is one of top priority directions of participation in global economy as in 2005 Ukraine’s grain export equaled to 5% of those in the world. At the same time President noted that administrative regulation of prices at grain markets harms the economy and means losses for farmers.

Addressing those present Viktor Yushchenko said that their experience is worth to be used in national agriculture development. “I am full of optimism. We shall introduce changes to organization of the internal grain market,” he said, adding that after Ukraine’s accession to the WTO the potential for development of the Ukrainian agriculture shall increase even further.
