Tymoshenko is ready to change form of governing in Ukraine


Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko claims that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will support changes in to the Constitution, which will foresee the transformation of Ukraine into the parliamentary republic. Yulia Tymoshenko stated at the conference “Ukraine-EU: towards common challenges”.

“Only the parliamentary form of governing can be approved by the parliament,” the PM said, adding that in her opinion, the presidential form of governing will not obtain support of the Ukrainian People’s deputies.

The head of the government of Ukraine has noted that the Constitutional reform in Ukraine is about to happen, as today actually two executive branches of the government exist: the first is headed by the President and the second – by the Prime Minister.

She has also noted that her team doesn’t change its points of views and considers that presidential and parliamentary forms of the state organization can be effective if they are correctly built with the necessary system of control and counterbalance.
