Yushchenko considers referendum will solve all problems on Constitution


President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko wants participants of constitutional process to be representatives of all political forces. The President said that in Astana at the press conference, commenting on withdrawal of Party of Regions from National Constitutional council. The ForUm reports referring to president’s press office.

“I would like to see all parliamentary political forces, key public initiatives and specialists on constitutional law in the constitutional process,” Yushchenko said.

President noted importance of participation of the VRU in holding of Constitutional reform. He appreciated parliamentary political forces who consolidate this process. “I will appreciate patriotic and constructive position of political forces who participate in this process," he said.

At the same time Yushchenko noted that he would like to have separate dialogue with Ukrainian people on constitution issue. In connection with this, National referendum on changing Constitution will be held. “I think referendum is a key solution of conflict in this process,” he said.

According to him, today two thirds of citizens are ready to support new version of the Constitution.. “Two thirds of people are ready to participate in National referendum on new Constitution,” Yushchenko said adding that for him constitutional reform is one of the national priorities.
