President argues for army development

Duringyesterday's meeting with staff and their families of the 1st tank unit of 8th army corpse of Ukrainian Army Land Forces President Viktor Yushchenko noted high level of unit’s readiness and technical equipment. “I am assured that we can be proud of the troops that we had seen today," Yushchenko said, president's press office reported.

He also expressed opinion that beginning with 2008 Defense Ministry should begin to develop its role as main buyer of military-industrial complex output including arms and military equipment. “We would like to see Ukrainian army in constant development,” the President said.
