Ukraine and EU to simplify visa regime


The Ukraine-EU monitoring committee on visa regime simplification will start its work next month. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated in Brussels after the meeting with European Commissioner for External Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner.

“The European commission has agreed to form joint monitoring committee, which will start its work next month,” he said.

As ForUm earlier reported, Ukraine and the EU on June 18, 2007 signed in Luxemburg the agreement on visa regime simplification and readmission. The two documents have come into force from January 1, 2008.

According to the agreement on visa regime simplification, the formation of the Monitoring committee on implementation of the agreement on visa simplification by the countries-members the EU and Ukraine is foreseen.
