Ukraine still has not decided on Kosovo

Ukraine has not finally determined its official position on Kosovo, Foreign Mnistry press secretary Vasyl Kyrylych told the press.

He emphasized that elaboration of approaches to difficult international questions takes a detailed study of the situation and does not stand haste. "Decision-making on recognition or non-recognition of newly self-proclaimed states is time-taking, which is universally practiced, especially concerning Kosovo," the press secretary emphasized.

Taking into account the special importance of the situation around Kosovo both for the region and the system of international relations on the whole, Ukraine is holding special consultations with its strategic partners. Their results will be taken into account in determination of this country's final position. And Ukraine is sure to proceed from its national interests.

Vasyl Kyrylych specified, asked by the press, that consultations on Kosovo are underway with the United States, the European Union and the Russian Federation. "To our deep conviction, the most important task of the world community is maintenance of peace and tranquility on the Balkans, prevention of destabilization of the region. The overwhelming majority of countries of the world are sharing this position," Kyrylych emphasized.
