Victor Yushchenko met with Nicolas Sarkozy


President Viktor Yushchenko met today in Paris with the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy. President's press office reports.

During the meeting parties discussed multiple questions of bilateral relations between their countries. Separate attention during the talks was paid to the political section of a new Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Also, the two Presidents discussed Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.

After the meeting President Yushchenko announced that he is very much satisfied with the results of the talks. He also added that in question of NATO and possible accession of Ukraine to NATO Membership Target Plan during NATO Bucharest Summit he reached full mutual understanding with the French side. V. Yushchenko emphasized that currently it is very important for Ukraine to hold necessary consultations with its European partners so that the country could see positive signal from the Alliance during the Bucharest Summit. “This is one of main aims of my current European consultations,” President added.
