President expects effective Constitutional Council


President Viktor Yushchenko in his interview to media in Dnipropetrovsk has said that he awaits coordinated work from the Constitutional Council. President's press office reports.

According to the President, at the first meeting on February 20 the Council will focus on preparing its working plan. “I hope that we will see a coordinated work of the Council,"  V. Yushchenko said.

Speaking about a need for constitutional reform the President has noted that lingering political crisis, and not only that in parliament, aside from other factors is caused by “misbalanced constitutional process”. “In order to get rid of political confrontation, conflicts, instability, which at times strike political bodies including the parliament, we have to focus seriously on preparation of amendments and additions to the Ukrainian Constitution,” President Yushchenko said .
