President invites foreign investors


During the 4th International conference for investors “Building markets, producing prosperity” President Viktor Yushchenko has stressed that currently Ukraine is prepared to ensure proper work conditions for foreign investors. He has also expressed assurance that in 2008 Ukraine will demonstrate to investors how attractive the privatization of middle and large national enterprises may be. President's press office reports.

“Currently we are revising methods of forming the policy. Gradually we are making this policy transparent and competitive,” the President said. “I can guarantee that all processes during privatization of any strategic or non-strategic enterprise will meet all international standards and regulations,” he added.

The President has also said that in 2008 the authorities will take all responsibility for VAT administration. In addition Ministry of Finance together with State Tax administration is to work out a new Tax Code which would establish fiscal relations of a new quality between the state and business.

Viktor Yushchenko has also expressed assurance that soon a proper transparent land market will be formed in Ukraine. According to the President that would allow to attract more resources into Ukrainian agricultural sector.

Among areas of potential interest to foreign investors V. Yushchenko also named the projects related to organizing Euro 2012. He has also informed that in nearest 10 days a full list of specific projects will be prepared by local administration.

Overall, according to the President, enhancement of the investment climate in Ukraine remains for the government one of top priority directions of its work. Ukraine continues its integration into European and world economic processes and recent beginning of the talks on free trade zone with the EU reflects that firm commitment.
