Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko congratulated the democratic team on positive results of negotiations in Moscow of the Ukrainian delegation chaired by the President, concerning gas issues, in particular, “elimination of all mediators from the gas market of Ukraine, including shadow and corrupt”. Cabinet's press office reports.
“I think, this is one more victory of democratic team, one more step to bringing order to gas market, one more step to decorruption, deshadowization of the energy sector”, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed, opening the Government sitting.
The next step of the Government, according to the Prime Minister, aims at signing of new direct contracts for gas supply with RAO “Gazprom” and resumption of “the NJSC “Naftohaz” strength” as a company occupying with gas transit and selling at home market”.
At the same time Yulia Tymoshenko noted that Government should continue working at control measures on the activity of the previous leaders of the NJSC “Naftohaz” and agreements on RosUkrEnergo and UkrHazEnergo. “To my mind, we’ll see just unique examples of betraying the national interests of the state and how great sum of shadow money didn’t reach accounts of the NJSC “Haftohaz”, the Head of Government noted.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, bringing order to the energy sphere is one of the priorities of the Government’s activity. “Energy security and energy independence of Ukraine, diversification of energy carriers supply to Ukraine is and remains one of the strategic tasks for Ukraine,” the Head of Government stressed.
In this context the Prime Minister reported that the Government sitting would consider a draft decision on creation of an organization committee on holding in Ukraine Energy Security Summit, slated for 22-23 May 2008. “This is another step to hold high level consultations on the development of our energy security system,” Yulia Tymoshenko summed up.
