Gasprom threatens to cut off gas supplies to Ukraine

Yesterday official representative of “Gasprom” Jsc. Sergey Kupriyanov stated that Russian monopolist can cut off gas supplies to Ukraine from February 11 of the current year, in case in the near future Ukraine does not pay overdue debts.

According to Kupriyanov, debt for gas supplied to Ukraine last month had swollen by $500m, bringing the total overdue to $1.5bn.

"If the Ukrainian side does not regulate this situation on Monday (February 11), Gasprom will be forced to cut supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine," Kupriyanov said in particular.
