Ukraine starts gas negotiations with Russia

Ukrainian government starts negotiations with Russia concerning deliveries of gas to Ukraine and debts for consumed gas. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists in Kyiv after her working trip to Odesa.

“From tomorrow we start negotiations because tomorrow the group of specialists of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” will leave for Russia. I think we will try to clarify the situation, why the debt of “RusUkrEnergo” occurred to Russia, and why they haven’t settled accounts, and why they make such difficult conditions for Ukraine,” Tymoshenko said.

The Prime Minister considers that statement of “Gazprom” is the confirmation that Ukraine doesn’t need mediators during the natural gas delivery. “Such mediators as “RusUkrEnergo”, as a rule, wrecked calculations and deliveries of gas to Ukraine,” she said.

According to Tymoshenko, such situation is the consequence of direct contracts between “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and Russian “Gazprom”, and the corresponding agreements between governments of Ukraine and Russia.

The head of the Ukrainian government doesn’t exclude that “RosUkrEnergo” has transferred money to shadow sphere.

At the same time, Tymoshenko has emphasized that Ukraine has all necessary recourses to provide all domestic consumers with gas, and so that to prevent the destabilization of situation during the transit of natural gas through Ukrainian territory. “Everything will be stable and safe,” she emphasized.
