Tymoshenko will tell Ukrainians about NATO

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko considers that on the current stage Ukraine needs wide information campaign concerning systems of collective security in the world, including NATO. Yulia Tymoshenko informed that yesterday in Brussels at the joint press conference with EU Secretary General Javier Solana.

“Taking into consideration political and public atmosphere in Ukraine, Ukraine needs deep, public and open discussion concerning participation in collective systems of security,” Tymoshenko said.

She noted that her government will “carry out the program” on realization of such information campaign.

As a reminder, on January 15 President Viktor Yushchenko, PM Yulia Tymoshenko and VRU speaker Arseniy Yatsenyuk signed and forwarded a letter to NATO secretary concerning Ukraine’s joining Action plan on membership in NATO.

Last week representatives of opposition blocked parliamentary podium, demanding to withdraw the letter. According to them, issue on joining NATO must be considered only at National referendum.
