BYuT accused PR of inconsistency

BYuT considers that Party of Regions is inconsistent concerning Ukraine’s accession to NATO, the BYuT statement says.

BYuT reminded that in 2003 PR faction almost unanimously voted for Ukraine’s accession to NATO, having set this aim in the law on national security.

Earlier PR faction supported resolution of the VRU concerning Euro Atlantic integration, aim of which was membership in NATO.

In Summer 2006 Viktor Yanukovych signed Universal pact of national unity and undertook to support “cooperation with NATO on the basis of functioning law on national security”.

Moreover, according to BYuT statement, Yanukovych (being a PM) signed Target plan of Ukraine with NATO for 2007. On March 2, 2007 Viktor Yanukovych stated that he intended to hold referendum on NATO.

“Obviously position of PR concerning NATO is changing depending on whether PR is in power or in opposition, in Kyiv, Moscow or in Brussels,” BYuT statement says.
