Yatsenyuk considers it necessary to change system of local elections

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine considers it necessary to change the system of election to local councils. He stated at the conference “European democratic achievements and development of the election legislation in Ukraine” on Wednesday in Kyiv.

Chairman of the VRU has noted that there are a lot of gaps in the election legislation of Ukraine and in the legislation on referendums.

He has emphasized that self-government institutions do not represent interests of citizens. According to him, it is connected with acting election system to self-government institutions.

In connection with this in near future it is planned to meet with representatives of regional and district councils of Ukraine and to discuss these problems.

Summarizing, Yatsenyuk has noted that Ukraine is in need of serious systematization of all stratum of legal regulations, adopted during the independence.
