President sets up Constitutional Council


President Viktor Yushchenko made a decision to establish National Constitutional Council and issued corresponding Presidential Decree. President's press office reports.

The Council is to be headed by the President of Ukraine. Parliamentary fractions, political parties, Verkhovna Rada of Autonomous Republic of Crimea, local and city administrations, National Academy of Sciences, right-protection organizations shall all have the right to present their suggestions on staff composition of the Council. These suggestions must be forwarded to President before January 15, 2008.

National Constitutional Council will be responsible for drafting a plan of modernization of constitutional social relations regulation and drafting a new Constitution of Ukraine.
