Yushchenko formed council to change Constitution


President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko formed National constitutional council. The text of corresponding decree is publicized on official site of the President.

According to the decree, National constitutional council must prepare conceptions of systematic renewal of the constitutional regulations of public relations in Ukraine and draft version of new Constitution of Ukraine.

National constitutional council is headed by the President Viktor Yushchenko.

President asked political parties, blocs who have factions in the VRU, the VR of Crimea, regional, Kyiv and Sevastopol city councils, National Science Academy to submit propositions on candidatures of National constitution council composition until January 15, 2008.

Secretariat of the President is charged to provide activity of National constitutional council. State department of affairs is charged to provide financial and material-technical provision.

This council is formed in order to strengthen constitutional guarantees of protection of people’s rights and freedom, to create balanced system of state power to increase role of local authorities and to improve constitutional regulations of public relations in Ukraine.
